Felt lined button box. Souvenir of Jacobs Ladder railway, Aberystwyth, Wales.The railway was built in 1902 to serve the lead mines, timber and passenger traffic of the Rheidol Valley. In deference to the hostile terrain, the railway was built on narrower track guage (1' 11 3/4").The box measures 3 3/4" wide 2 1/2" deep, and 2" tall. Condition is very good.

This is a vintage pinback button that was probably originally sold as a souvenir near the Kinzua Railroad Bridge in Pennsylvania. It has an image of the bridge with a train crossing it. For a long time the Kinzua bridge was the highest railroad bridge in the world. Light wear and light discoloration. Measures 1 1/2 inches wide.

Rest of the text on the 3" blue ribbon is a date of "July 3rd 1778." This and the rest of the text has lost brightness but remains easily readable. The ribbon suspends from a brass "Souvenir" bar pin. It is fastened by means of a spring pin positioned upside-down into a 1.25" button showing an Indian in a crouching, preparing to attack, position.
