If your DIN (release value) is at 8.5, you are still within the range of the binding, but definitely at the top end. Bindings perform best when your DIN is about at the middle of the binding's range. In this case, you are on the higher end. Although it will work, you might find that when you are skiing fast and aggressive (in bumps), pre-releases may be more frequent when compared to a binding with a DIN of 12 or 14. So, although it would work, I think a binding with a higher DIN will serve you better...
