Earliglow Strawberry - The Berry Growers Companion . Also the favorite of local strawberry grower Shaun Keenan. Incredibly, Earliglow even beat Sparkle in the 2006 Middlesex School alumni strawberry taste-off. Though I witnessed the event I was ineligible to participate. Resistant to red stele and verticillium wilt. Considerably more productive in southern New England than up north. Z3.

Jewel Strawberry - Mid-Late. NY 1324 [(Senga Sengana x NY E-58) x Holiday] NY Station, 1985. Added to our list at the suggestion of Shaun Keenan at Sand Hill Farm in Somerville. Shaun even went so far as to say that Jewel tasted almost as good as Sparkle. Although I don’t think I’d go quite that far, I was very impressed with the berry. Large bright red glossy perfectly shaped fruit is firm, sweet and slightly aromatic. Unlike Sparkle, Earliglow and many other varieties, it keeps its size all season. Extremely popular...

Earliglow - "Wonderful strawberry flavor" is this variety's trademark. Earliglow's fruit has a tough glossy skin, firm flesh, and medium size. The variety is excellent for fresh eating and freezing due to the sweetness of its berries. Fruit size tends to decrease as the season progresses. Earliglow plants are very vigorous and runner well. This variety has good resistance to red stele and intermediate resistance to Verticillium wilt. Earliglow remains our #1 early-season variety.
