Start seed indoors near a sunny window 6 weeks before transplanting to the garden. Or sow in garden in full sun when danger of frost is over and ground is warm. Performs best in rows 2 feet apart.

Select a sunny location and sow as soon as soil can be worked. Firm soil over seed and keep moist. For an earlier crop, start seeds indoors. Basil makes an attractive potted plant indoors or out.
