This cornet is in great condition. The laquer finish looks great and the valve/tuning slide action is great. The horn was just recently chemically flushed and has new water key corks, new felts, and freshly greased slides. This cornet also has a finger ring on the 3rd valve tuning slide for when quick adjustments are needed. The horn comes in a hard case, with a straight mute, and with a Conn 4 mouthpiece. A vintage postwar Silvertone cornet with silver bell, made by King. These cornets were highly respected in their time and have become a sought-after vintage item. The silver bell has a deep rose patina and the lacquer lead pipe and valve cases have darkened to a deep emerald-gold. Despite some noticeable blemishes, this cornet still plays with the dream-like quality that made the Silversonic ubiquitous on the bandstand. The pistons, slides, valvecaps, and water keys all move freely.

     No major dents. Quite a bit of pitting, but not on the valve pistons, which are in very good shape. Case has musty odor. Conn 7C cornet mouthpiece included. If you've ever checked into this instrument, this is probably the lowest price you've ever seen. I simply need to sell something quickly and decided to price this well below market value.

Prewar King Sterling belled Bb cornet in very nice condition. Stamped medium bore on 2nd valve case. Serial number is 161461 (1935). Other than some minor dents on the bell, this is a very straight instrument still retaining 95% its beautiful smokey lacquer. Original case in good shape. We notice a "US" stamp on the case...a US government horn at one time? Glad to see one of these that survived the Hunt brothers attempt to corner the silver market in the late '70s. All tuning slides are free and...
