Germination: Easy germination. Can be started indoors 2-4 weeks prior to last spring frost. Sow seed in container on good seed starting mix. Cover seeds lightly. Moisten mix and keep mix moist until germination begins. Place container in a location at 70°F. Germination should begin in 6-10 days. From my experience, I had difficulty with transplanting seedlings. The plants just didn't do as well (major problem was stunted growth of plant height and size of flower head) as direct sown plants. Grow specs: Easily direct-seeded as soon as soil is warm. Thinned to eight inches, it grows to three feet and may need to be staked if soil is rich. Average to rich well-drained garden soil.
