This wine offers good balance between fruity notes and a toasted background (mocha coffee) acquired during ageing in French oak casks. The nuances of spices and leather contribute to its fascinating aromatic complexity. On the palate it is velvety, with a firm and elegant body.

Silky tannins surround flavors of blueberry, black cherry and blackberry. A pleasant mineral-earthiness and restrained oak complement the flavors and extend the harmonious finish.

Harvested with mature, silky tannins, the wine is fermented and macerated in 120-gallon puncheons for full extraction of the white pepper, violets, and dark chocolate character typical of the noble Syrah. After evolving for two years in French oak barrels (50% new) and only two rackings, the Syrah is bottled without filtration or fining. The wine is expected to evolve in the bottle for decades.

Not as smooth as the 2005 vintage but still a nice shiraz. Color is very dark purple/black. Nose of tannins, dark fruit, powerful oak, rubber, and like a bell pepper vegetal note. On the palate you get heavy dark fruit up front with tannins and oak on the mid palate, tannins are integrated at first but strengthen toward the backend, on the back you also get some oak, dark fruit, and those rubber/vegetal notes, like a yellow bell pepper with a little spicy note. All in all good but not right now...
