I went out into our showroom and measured a Stay-Put Cradle, part # 853-7887, that was on one of our floor model Thule Roadway 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH912XT and found out that the hole is 1 inch in diameter. Check out the picture I attached to see this measurement.
