Christopher Wallace was born on May 21, 1972 to Voletta Wallace, a pre school teacher of Jamaican origin, and George Latore, a Jamaican Welder in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. His original rap name "Biggie Smalls" came from the hit movie "Lets Do It Again". Later on, when his career began to blossom, due to legal reasons he had to record under the name of The Notorious B.I.G.
