Most 2nd and 3rd printings pertain to posters from the BG (Bill Graham poster series of 1966-71) and the FD (Family Dog poster series of the same time period). Once promoters realized that psychedelic art "collectors" were tearing down the posters advertising their concerts, additional printings had to be run in order to market the shows. The Retinal Circus poster series was born in the sparkling bayside city of Vancouver in the mid-1960s, when the culture was fast becoming shaped by the same psychedelic movement that was brewing in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
