Charkha Spun Sari Silk Yarn
I love that this is a recycled by-product of another textile process. The color variation is very nice and evenly distributed through the skein. A little bit lumpy-bumpy, but that does add to the charm of this yarn. This is a single ply yarn, so a little bit tightly twisted making it rather rough, but I must say that it hangs nicely without kinking. |

Banana Silk Yarn - Celebrate
Banana Silk Yarn is a natural product similar to rayon. The soft, shiny yarn is handspun and kettle dyed in Nepal. There aren't any dye lots and the skeins do vary. It is suggested that the skeins be alternated as you work for the most uniform color. Skeins are approx. 200g and you get approx. 150 yards per 200 grams. On US 8-10 needles expect approx. 3-1/2 to 4 stitc hes per inch. Imported from Nepal as a fair trade item. |

Hand Spun Tussah Silk Yarns
These lustrous yarns are from India and are handspun by the unique method of softening with soap, then pulling out the fibre directly into a yarn. This produces a semi-continuous, extremely strong yarn with a very long staple (3"+). The yarns dye beautifully, with colours slightly muted by the soft undertone of beige. The colour is a light silvery brown, slightly variegated. Suitable for knitting, by hand or machine, and for warp. |

Lhasa Recycled Silk Yarn
Our Himalayan recycled silk yarn colors are spun together in a complex manner, no two skeins are exactly alike. At this time, 100% silk solid color yarn is difficult to obtain. Those selling solid color "recycled silk yarn" are most likely selling yarns that actually have no silk in them! Its light to bulky weight knits up great on size 7 or larger needles. Not over spun like some natural yarns, many people say... |

New! Pebbles Solo Silk Yarn
As a word of caution, please order carefully when estimating your yarn needs. Hand dying is an “imperfect art” and dyelot quantities are limited. Subtle variations in skeins of the same dye lot are not unusual. When using hand dyed yarns, it is good practice to knit from more than one ball at a time and to warp using more than one skein at a time. We also suggest that you not expect different dye lots to be exactly the same or that the same color combination will be exactly the same on different... |

Spun Silk Yarn 30/2 bombyx
Silk yarns! I've always loved silk - not just its feel, but also the smell (a weaver-friend of mine says that is the smell of money!), the sheen (bombyx - tussah has a "flat" finish), the drape, its ability to take dye, and the wonderful "scrunch" when you squeeze it. |

Tussah Peduncle Silk Yarn
The colour is a deep grey/brown. The yarn is firm because the peduncle feels exactly like a stiff stem before processing. The ply has a heavy twist, so the yarn is lively with a little over twist. This could be used to advantage when making a collapse weave. One must be watchful while weaving to catch the yarn from twisting back on itself. The yarn is uneven like hand spun. Its colour combines nicely with the tussah and muga yarns for a nice lightweight jacket fabric. |
