The Santa Cruz Nomad is one of those, "if I only had one bike…this would be it" kind of bikes. It has a go-anywhere VPP rear suspension that relies on sealed cartridge bearings to make it perform smoothly up the mountain and down the other side, absorbing all the bumps on your trail, big and small. However, it's a good idea to periodically maintain the rear suspension to keep it performing like the day it was new. For a complete rear suspension overhaul, we recommend a Santa Cruz Pro Pack .

One of the coolest things Santa Cruz does is to offer a lifetime bearing warranty to the original owner. While you must cover the cost to get your bearings to Santa Cruz, they will pay to send replacement bearings to you. However, Santa Cruz Bicycles will not be liable for any labor costs involved in swapping out the bearings. If you want to get your new bearings fast, include a description of your frame (size, model and serial number) and how long you had your bearings.

Santa Cruz carbon fiber bikes are made to be ridden hard and fast. Sometimes when you're in the zone and the trail gets sufficiently blurry, the nasty obstacles on the fringe start to close in on you. The easy target is the rear derailleur.
