A big, mouthful of a wine in any vintage, this 2003 Petite Sirah is definetely massive! Very fruit forward in the nose with raspberry, plum and blueberry highlighted with toasty vanilla oak and dark espresso chocolate. Ripe flavors are accented with black pepper spice. The chalky tannins will reward if you have the patience to cellar a few years, or prepare to brush before smiling!

Less impressive because of high acidity is the 2006 Petite Sirah Turley Estate. I dont know why this wine comes across as so tart, but it does. Nevertheless, there is beautiful fruit. It is a medium to fullbodied wine, but youve got to like acidity to grasp all the pleasures that this wine is likely to offer, and not for another 7 to 10 years.

Equal parts intense, dark fruit, smoke, spice, and ageworthy tannins. A powerhouse from an increasingly rare varietal. Very limited.
