I always wonder why I don't hear wine lovers, particularly those who are die-hard Cab fanatics, talk about Mourvedre more. True, it doesn't have the same widespread recognition and caché as Cali Cab. But when it's time to curl up next to a fire with a dark, earthy, spicy yet smooth red wine, I just can't think of anything better than a Mourvedre. 2007 Rancho Mourvedre 'Dry Farmed
The nose on our 2007 Mourvedre is wonderfully earthy with notes of sage, cedar, forest floor, prunes, Eucalyptus. The wine has a soft tannin structure with very nice acidity and mid-palate flavors of sandalwood, black and red fruits and fresh mushrooms, and finishes slow, long and rich.

The 2009 Mourvedre is a urprising light color, delightful, medium bodied red wine, 13% alcohol, with hints of strawberry fruit in the nose.
