Lysander's Black Bean Soup
Pick through and wash beans. Add 6 cups water, boil 1 minute, turn off heat, let stand 1 hour. Add onion and garlic and boil gently 1 hour or until beans are soft. Stir occasionally and add water as desired. Add ingredients and season (to taste). Cook 1 hour or until done and desired thickness is obtained. Crock pot directions included on package.
