Lombardy Poplar
Comments: If soil is heavy, add peat moss, dehydrated manure, or compost. Hold tree in hold with previous planting stain at ground level; spread roots, add soil to fill half way, compact soil, complete filling, compact soil again, and water well. Lombardy Poplar
As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets. Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps. Water your Lombardy Poplar again after the transplant is complete. To help retain some of that moisture, it's recommended that you place mulch around each tree to a depth of 2"-3" up to but not touching the trunk. Organic mulches such as wood chips or pine needles also help to better soil structure as they decompose. |

Liz Hutton - Lombardy Poplars Clarens | Landscape Art Original
I have had no formal art training and started out as a potter. Unfortunately I was not able to continue and turned to paints and brushes. I have attended various courses and workshops with artists such as Dale Elliot, Paul Botes and Sue Kemp among others. The Art Society in Sedgefield is very active and I was Chairlady for several years. We are lucky in the area to be able to paint plein air and this has helped me with aerial perspective and generally helping to capture the mood which is not always... |

Poplar, Screen Hybrid
It normally lives 30-50 years. It is wind, disease, and insect-resistant. And it can take the cold as far north as Canada. This is not the short-lived Lombardy poplar. The Hybrid Screen Poplar is often used to reforest after forest fire, and to reclaim land after strip mining. But, the best use is to provide beauty and quick, cool shade for new homes. |

Theves Poplar
‘Afghanica’ is a sterile strain of the famous Lombardy Poplars you always see near reflecting pools and on estate properties; they’re ubiquitous in Beverly Hills. A perfect solution for a quick privacy screen, windbreak or noise barrier, the Theves Poplar grows in a ramrod upright spire like its parent, but lives longer and is far more tolerant of insects and diseases. The forest-green leaves are triangular-ovate, neat and orderly, and change to a mustardy yellow color in the fall. It’s a thirsty... |
