Heliconia aemygdiana is a medium sized heliconia, 5-12 feet tall. Grows well in partial to full shade. Produces up to 14 colorful, erect bracts - rose-purple with some yellow. Broad, banana- type leaves. Bracts are hot pink-lavender with a bright yellow rachis. The true flowers are apple green. Fruits are large and round, green when immature and an attractive glossy blue color when ripe.
