Eva Cassidy will break your heart:  she is just that good.   She was a painfully shy woman whose voice ranged from jazzy to blusey to folk-like purity.  "Songbird" was her first recording.  You have never heard "Fields of Gold" sung as Eva sings it here!  But by no means is that the only hit of this CD.  You are in for a real treat with all the selections. Here at Jazz By Mail, we cannot recommend her music highly enough!  Eva's music is top-notch!

Cassidy was born February 2, 1963. She sang in a family folk act led by her father and also sang with a rock band, Stonehenge, during her high school years. The first recording under her own name was a set of duets with go-go singer Chuck Brown, The Other Side , released in 1992.
