This 2006 Russian River Chardonnay is bursting with aromas of golden delicious apple, honeysuckle and pineapple. The wine exhibits rich, creamy flavors of lemon custard, butterscotch and hints of nutmeg in the mouth followed by citrus zest and notes of hazelnut. This generous offering will pair nicely with rich, creamy cheeses, salads with citrus fruits and sumptuous shellfish dishes.

Features very attractive lifted fruit aromas, along with a touch of nuttiness: the hint of hazelnut that is so typical of Chardonnay. The palate also shows a nice peachy ripeness along with a crisp flinty character that gives the wine a refreshing cleansing quality. This wine is perfect to drink with fish and shellfish.

The 2006 Hunting Hill Chardonnay is grown on a lyre trellis: much more introverted on the nose than the Coddington but still imbued with that Meursault-like profile. The palate is very ripe, a little “warmer” than Coddington with higher alcohol (14%). It develops an entrancing glycerin-rich finish inter-cut with fresh lime and a touch of petrol on the aftertaste. This forms a superb debut.

The 450-case 2006 Chardonnay South River Vineyard (100% Hanzell clone) reveals notes of brioche, peach, lemon butter, white currants, and spring flowers. Loaded with fruit, and displaying good definition as well as delineation, it should drink well for 5-6 years.

Fisher Vineyards’ Mountain Estate Chardonnay is produced from vines grown on high elevation, steep, rocky slopes facing northeast. Production was 670 cases and the Texas allocation is always limited. Serve with sautéed fresh Gulf Red Snapper.
