2005 Domaine des Malandes Chablis 1er Cru "Vau de Vey"

Now grown all over the world and bottled by its varietal name, Chardonnay has achieved a level of branding unlike any other wine. Surprisingly, though, what you get when you buy Chardonnay can differ greatly from country to country and even within one country, depending on the climate where it's grown and how it is vinified and aged... |

Domaine Desvignes Chablis 2010
The domaine is large by Chablisien standards in that Pierre owns 60 hectares of vines. He sells a lot of fruit every year to local winemakers but keeps the best Chardonnay for his own estate Chablis. Everything in the winery is geared towards traditional winemaking. Since there are no Grand Cru bottlings the Desvignes family sees no need to bring oak into the winery. The Chablis AC comes from select plots with a favorable S,SE exposure and a mild hillside grade where the soils are particularly rich... |
