Cono Sur Vision Pinot Noir is vinified from Chile's oldest Pinot Noir growths, planted in the Colchagua Valley in 1968. The cool microclimate and stone-clay soils create ideal growing conditions for excellent fruit. Vision is a fresh, concentrated red with notes of strawberry, cherry, plum and raspberry with a hint of earth.

The vineyard, on Sonoma Mountain, is known for their spicy, meaty, red cherry liqueur-style Pinot Noir. Napa vintner Peggy Ryan treats the vineyard with respect in this balanced, juicy, spicy, food-friendly Pinot Noir. Smell & taste the liqueur, dried red roses, vanilla bean (nice touch of French oak), licorice and cinnamon. It’s velvety and sensual. 95 cases made.

If you tasted Kenny Likitprakong's terrific 2007 Folk Machine Pinot Noir (sold out), Factories & Smoke is the big brother wine. Kenny makes F & S from a vineyard that he farms in the Potter Valley in Mendocino. It's a warm area, and the fruit is deep and plush - though it doesn't lose it's Pinot Noir style / identity along the way. It's still young and can use a swirl around the carafe. Do that, and throw it at a roasted duck from Chinatown. Only 100 cases made.

I’m quite aware there are Pinot Noir fanciers that will not buy this wine because it is too inexpensive. I’m confident, however, there will be a lot of people surprised at how good this wine is. It starts off with a smoky aroma, and then the surprise sets in with its fairly rich flavor that includes some black cherry notes. A terrific value.
