I have grown these flowers for several years. Sometimes they are fragile to get started, but when they start growing, they are unstoppable. Several of my co-workers have asked for seeds. I sent them to Gurneys.com

Germination: Easy germination. Can be started indoors 2-4 weeks prior to last spring frost. Sow seed in container on good seed starting mix. Cover seeds lightly. Moisten mix and keep mix moist until germination begins. Place container in a location at 70°F. Germination should begin in 6-10 days. From my experience, I had difficulty with transplanting seedlings. The plants just didn't do as well (major problem was stunted growth of plant height and size of flower head) as direct sown plants. Description: Celosia is a very interesting and unusual flower shape resembling a cockscomb or folds of the brain. The blossom is large and found singly at the end of a heavy stalk.

Dazzling fiery red, pink, orange & yellow plumes 12” (30 cm) long, top uniform, sturdy plants with dark bronze foliage. Flower heads are extremely long lasting, holding 8 weeks or more before fading. Effective for borders, mass plantings, cuttings and drying. Culture: Sow seed thinly indoors in late winter, or outdoors as soon as soil has warmed. Keep seedlings moist but do not over water either. A fungicide to prevent dampening off may be necessary.

(Celosia cristata) These tall cockscombs are hard to find but offer a gorgeous display of flashy color in shades of pink, red, and yellow. The extra-tall plants are great for borders and group plantings for massive displays of color. Great as cut flowers; they sell well at market.
