Im not considered new to astronomy. I myself own a couple of large reflectors and a nice refractor, but those are time consuming to set up and are very heavy. So the reason I bought this scope was mainly for its portability and price. This is a great scope to use when you just want to spend sometime on your porch looking at the stars.
