Made from grapes grown on 40 year old Carignan vine s in the Shomron region of Israel and it shows in the glass. The wine matured in French oak for 12 months. Carmel Old Vine Carignan is a deep rich purple color with aromas of kirsch cherries, raspberries and coffee. It is full bodied with massive legs hugging the inside of the glass. The finish is long and the balance in the wine is AMAZING.

Description According to the Wine Advocate: Fadat’s 2007 Le Carignan (due to have been bottled in March) displays attractively concentrated, juicy, and invigorating blackberry and mulberry, with overtones of game and savory, saline finishing notes in its palate-staining finish. This wine nearly always needs time in air to shed a certain inherent reductive cast and should then be worth holding for at least 5-7 years. Vintage: 2007

The property is situated in the village of Capçanes and served for several years as the village cooperative. In the 1990’s, the co-op began making kosher wines for the Jewish population of Barcelona, and from that exposure in the much larger city, the property began to attract a greater level of interest.

Vivid and incredibly fresh, this fabulous Euro-inspired Carignan comes from an ancient 120-year-old vineyard in the Alexander Valley that is farmed dry (without irrigation). This contributes beautiful depth and concentration to the wine, which shows indulgent red berry fruit, and is lifted by a bright core of acidity. Produced using carbonic maceration (hence the name), a technique often used in Beaujolais, and fermented naturally with native yeasts. Super tiny production - only 425 cases were made!

Inky-ruby. An intensely perfumed bouquet evokes redcurrant, cherry pie, smoky minerals and an exotic note of potpourri. Deeply pitched red and dark fruit flavors show uncanny vivacity and pick up notes of rose and lavender pastille with air. Juicy and palate-staining, with intense finishing spiciness and excellent length. This wine clocks in with a very low pH of 3.13 and has a high acidity level of 6.15 g/l, but also holds 4.35 g/l of residual sugar and 14.5% alcohol.
