Hedges - Canadian Hemlock
I was very excited to get these plants and get them in the ground as soon as possible. I planted in May and they still have yet to get any growth or flourish and it is January of the next year. They have been hooked up to a drip system and the watering time has been adjusted many times to see which works better. I hope to get better success with these plants this coming spring and summer. So far, no luck!!! |

Canadian Hemlock
As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets. Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps. Water your Canadian Hemlock again after the transplant is complete. To help retain some of that moisture, it's recommended that you place mulch around each tree to a depth of 2"-3" up to but not touching the trunk. Organic mulches such as wood chips or pine needles also help to better soil structure as they decompose. |

Canadian Hemlock Seedling Plugs (a.k.a. Eastern Hemlock)
The Canadian Hemlock does not handle salt very well, so avoid planting in areas which may receive a significant amount of road salt runoff. It does grow well in fairly heavy clay soils.
