Camembert Le Chatelain
Unlike our other French Camembert, this one comes from Normandy, where Camembert was first created in 1791 by Marie Harel. During the French Revolution, a recalcitrant priest from Brie (the village, not the cheese) arrived at the Manor of Beaumoncel in the village of Camembert and was hidden there by Marie Harel, a farmer. Following the direction of this priest, she created Camembert. The recipe was a success and her children and grandchildren continued the family tradition. Over time, word spread... |

Camembert Le Chatelain
This camembert is as close to the real Camembert de Normandie AOC as you can get. It is made with slowly pasteurized cow's milk and has an earthy and lactic profile of the true Camembert. The slow pasteurization retains most of the rich flavor and texture of the raw milk while still making it legal for US imports. It is adored by novices and connoisseurs alike. |

Camembert Chatelain
Camembert is one of the most popular cheeses of France. An AOC cheese from Normandy, Camembert is a bloomy rind, cow milk cheese. The cheese itself is produced in smaller wheels that is only 4 inches in diameter. Its pate is supple and ivory colored and its rind is pillowy and velvety. Its taste is creamy and rich, with underlying flavor characteristics of mushrooms, garlic, and salt. Chatelain is one of the better brands of Camembert, as it adheres to some of the highest standards. 8.8oz |
