Given the great strides in quality, and marked reduction in the use of oak, this is a domaine to watch. In contrast to the Monte de tonnerre, this sees about 70% new oak, a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 year old barrels. Benoit reduced the amount of oak from 80% in 2001, because he felt the vintage was so round and forward that he needed to preserve a bit more freshness. ...
