Bain is best known outside of the slam world as the Harvard law student who was wrongfully arrested by New York Police in 1999. He sued NYPD for the arrest. The case was dismissed five months later. Bain went on to become a slam poet and lyricist, and he now teaches hip-hop and spoken word theory at Columbia University.
