The Secret Helmet was also known as a Basinet or Cerveliere and dates from the 14th. Century. These small hemispherical steel skull caps were often worn beneath a mail coif or simply over the coif. This type of medieval helmet evolved to be worn under a great helm or tilting helm for extra protection. Crafted in 14 gauge steel with an adjustable leather liner and chinstrap.
