This native wildflower has flat orange flower clusters that bloom in early to mid summer at the tops of tall stems with green, lance shaped foliage. In Michigan they grow along hot and dry, sandy banks and slopes where the orange color jumps right out at you among the native grasses. They are long lived and drought tolerant, plus they are a food source for some butterlfy larvae and they attract a wide assortment of adult butterflies.

This is a stunningly beautiful form of our US native Asclepias tuberosa that we obtained from Ellen Horning of Seneca Hill Perennials when she closed her nursery.
