Alter Ego De Palmer Margaux 2006 750ml
Alter Ego De Palmer Margaux 2006 750ml

Rated 90 - The second wine, the outstanding 2008 Alter Ego de Palmer, a blend of 52% Merlot and 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, is one of the finest examples of this cuvee I have tasted. Well-integrated wood smoke intermixed with notes of creme de cassis, earth, and forest floor are found in this opulent, deliciously fruity, round, and sensual effort. It should drink beautifully for 10-15 years. - Robert Parker. - Alter Ego De Palmer Margaux 2008 750ml - Margaux

The yield, at 34 hL/ha, was very close to that of the 2005 vintage. Although this very fine vintage gave us the leisure to harvest calmly, it caused our oenologists some anxiety! The grapes arrived in the winery at slightly higher temperatures than usual. The crops had to be cooled to make sure that the fermentation temperatures were well controlled. The extraordinary richness of the musts demanded constant monitoring by batch in order to precision-manage the extractions. These efforts were both...

Rated 92 points by the Wine Spectator: `Dark in color, with intense, very ripe aromas of raisin, tar and licorice. Full-bodied, with loads of ripe tannins, wonderful dried fruit character and a long, superfruity finish. A lovely second wine from Palmer. Best after 2014. -JS`

Alter Ego is the second label of 3rd Growth superstar Ch â teau Palmer. Planted to 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, with an average vine age of 35 years, the estate is known for producing one of Bordeaux's most compelling wines in the aromatics as well as in the ability to put forth a rich, compelling, traditional wine. Alter Ego is typically made from the younger vines of the estate, and provides a stunningly good deal in great vintages. We tasted this out of barrel in Bordeaux...

2009 Alter Ego de Palmer, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

- Cabernet Sauvignon has come a long way from its role as a blending varietal, however dominant, in the wines of Bordeaux. Today it is the most planted red varietal in the world. Identified as a descendent of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, the late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon needs to be planted in warmer climates to fully ripen. Its small berries can easily be identified for their distinctive blue color, thick skins and high tannins. And while the varietal has its own definitive characteristics...

2006 Alter Ego de Palmer, Margaux (Pre-Arrival)

- Margaux is the southern most of all of the appellations of the Haut Medoc. Located near St. Julien, it has more cru classe producers than the other four villages of the area. In addition to the legendary Chateau Margaux, there are five second-growths: Rauzan Gassies, Rauzan Seglas, Dufort-Vivens, Lascombes, and Brane Cantenac. While more people are probably familiar with the third growth Chateau Palmer, there are nine other wineries with the same ranking in addition to a trio of fourth growths...

2007 Alter Ego De Palmer 750ML
2007 Alter Ego De Palmer 750ML

This has a very attractive nose with ripe, bright black fruits laced with a little mocha and espresso. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine grainy tannins. Good acidity, a nice savoury aspect to the wine this year with nice build towards a dense finish with touches of roasted herbs. It does not have the length of a great Alter Ego, but it certainly has the delineation and the breeding. Very crisp on the dry masculine finish. Neal Martin, 89-90 points.

2004 Palmer - Alter Ego Bordeaux Blend

Drank 4/1/09; glass - medium garnet in glass, day bright, with moderate viscosity; nose - blackberries, black cherries, smoke (grilled meat), and spice (nutmeg, cinnamon); palate - black cherry, black berry, cassis, nice minerality (graphite?), relatively round but tannins that are present. This was opened in the morning, and consumed about 8 hours later. It was still fairly young in the glass, but opened up nicely over the next 2-3 hours. I suspect that this will require another 3-5 years to...

2009 Alter Ego de Chateau Palmer Margaux - Bordeaux FUTURES

Tasted at the chateau. A lucid purple colour. A blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon and 51% Merlot, I do not even need to approach the glass to nose this wine. Just under 13.7% alcohol. A sense of controlled opulence here, black plum, a touch of cassis and bilberry, the oak just a little dominant at the moment but that will subsume itself into the wine with time. The palate is full-bodied with seamless tannins, a typically plush, approachable Alter Ego with black cherry, a hint of thyme and white fennel...

2000 Palmer - Alter Ego Bordeaux Blend
2000 Palmer - Alter Ego Bordeaux Blend

Medium plus blood red colored wine with a few distinct slightly colored legs. An immediately appealing nose of spearmint, cassis, smoke, sandalwood, cedar, and minerals. Already enjoyable now, the wine shows excellent balance to go along with its suave and persistent flavors. Tastes like a wine that hails from Chateau Palmer ? the highest praise for a second wine in my opinion.
