Hex (Allen ) recess fasteners have been used in a wide variety of machinery products for many years, as anyone who has attempted to repair almost anything mechanical well knows. These versatile bits are available in both 1 inch long wire detent (insert) style bits as well as 2 inch long (nominal length) power driver bits for direct use in quick change chucks or Jacobs style drill chucks.

It amazes me how often a product is assembled in a manner that major disassembly is the only way to get access to the one fastener standing between me and success. These nifty ball ended bits fit standard hex recess fasteners, but allow the driver bit to access the recess at up to 25 degrees off axis.
