Ken Forrester Chenin Blanc 2009 (Stellenbosch, South Africa)
In 1993, Ken Forrester and his wife Teresa purchased the historic Scholtzenhof estate, situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain in the heart of Stellenbosch. Originally established in 1689 as Zandberg, the property is one of the oldest wineries in the Cape. The duplex soils, mountainous terrain and Mediterranean climate are ideal for the growth of Chenin Blanc, which Forrester and his team prune and harvest by hand. |

Ken Forrester 'THE FMC' Chenin Blanc 2009
"Sourced from Chenin Blanc vines planted in 1967, with natural wild yeast fermentation, and raised in about 85% new oak, the flagship 2009 The FMC has a beautifully defined, intoxicating bouquet with lemon curd, frangipane, almond and just a touch of nutmeg. The palate has a rounded, waxy texture with wonderful harmony and precision. There are subtle flavours of dried apricot, brioche, vanilla, a touch of honey (perhaps a little botrytis) and a hint of spice. Seductive, harmonious and very focussed... |

Ken Forrester Chenin Blanc Stellenbosch 2009
90 points Stephen Tanzer ( International Wine Cellar ) : "Pale yellow. Complex aromas of pear, stone fruits, pineapple, spices and pepper, plus a whiff of curry powder. Juicy, fresh and penetrating, with lovely fruit flavors enlivened by minerality, which also gives firmness to the finish. Ken Forrester is now farming his estate vineyards organically. Seventy percent of this wine was aged and fermented in barriques, 20% of which were new, but the wine's material wears the wood component lightly... |

Ken Forrester Reserve Chenin Blanc 2010
"Aged for 12 months in the same oak regime as the regular Chenin Blanc with the fruit picked a little riper, the 2010 Reserve Chenin Blanc has a well-defined bouquet with very well integrated oak and hints of hazelnut and spice. It has a very well balanced palate with powerful citrus fruits laced with lemon curd, orange essence, apricot and brioche that dovetail into a precise finish. This Chenin comes highly recommended, especially for the price. Drink now-2017+ " |
