Paul Pernot was one of the last to harvest in 2008, finishing on October 5th. He felt that many of his neighbors were in too much of a hurry to harvest. The Fall conditions were such, he felt, that the phenolic maturity continued to improve, while acidity did not decline. His alcohol levels are even higher than his 2006s, but they do not show this way on the plate, due to the impressive size and concentration of his wines in 2008. This shows hints of butterscotch and a has a very nice focus....

Pale, bright medium yellow. Ripe peach, minerals, flowers and a whiff of honey on the nose, lifted by spicy and peppery nuances. Concentrated and densely packed, with lemon and lime fruit flavors framed and lifted by minerals and spices. This nicely juicy wine finishes with noteworthy aromatic lift.

A wine of great finesse, distinguished and elegant. The color is pure and bright, with light glints of white gold. The aromas evoke trees in bloom and white flesh fruit, like white peaches. With age, the aromas evolve towards almond and lightly grilled dried fruit. On the palate, there is a sensation of fresh silkiness. Long and persistent in the aftertaste, ending on an exceptional wealth of flavors, both floral and fruity.

From the walled vineyard right in front of the Château inside the village of Puligny-Montrachet, this over-achieving Bourgogne Blanc is stellar year in and year out. It definitely shows the floral and mineral notes in the nose that make the village famous. Good length and buttery, citrus fruit make this a great wine at any price, but this "little" wine from an estate with an embarrassing array of riches can stand up to the best of them.

Description Has a heady bouquet of apricots, fresh almonds and subtle toasted notes. It has a beautiful finesse and lovely structure. Racy with a bouquet of almonds, fern, hawthorn and peaches. The flavors are rich but steely, a characteristic that often distinguishes them from their neighbors in Meursault and Chassagne.

Description Pale, bright yellow. Sexy aromas of musky stone fruits and flowers; communicates an impression of energy. Then dense, concentrated and complete, with lovely verve to the flavors of peach and flowers. I like this wine for its lift and vivacity, and it's already quite appealing.
