2008 Caymus - Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
I am a Caymus fan. But I didn't taste anything better than their regular Cab in this wine. Maybe my expectations were too high. Dark berries with road tar and camphor on the nose. Very deep body with a full mouthfeel and silky tannins. Very well integrated and a smooth, long finish. |

Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2009 750ml
97 Points Wine Enthusiast: This is an intriguing and challenging wine to describe. At first pass, it reminds me of fresh grape pumice spread onto an open field a the smell of Rutherford during an October harvest. Color: Dark scarlet color, purple edges. Palate: Slight tartness expands to a supple juicy character with an intense presence. Flavors are an amusing ensemble of harmonies - bitter chocolate, charred peppered meat, raw dry aged beef, brown spice, vanilla yogurt, sarsaparilla, cream soda... |

1997 Caymus - Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
Bright ruby. Cassis, violet and lightly tarry, spicy oak. Ripe, dense and very concentrated; thick and deep. Not at all overly sweet or dominated by the wood. Has superb material and verve. Finishes very long, with thoroughly ripe tannins. The finest vintage for this wine in a long time, and one that avoids the excesses of (American) oak that have plagued so many recent vintages. |

2002 Caymus - Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
Retail purchase, held about two years. Open for 1 hour, no decant. Deep dark blue. Eight years on the vintage presents a very well integrated, balanced and full-bodied cabernet with perfect ripeness, acidity and tannins. The 2002 CSS stops short of over-the-top bombastic showings for which premium Napa are often chastised. Fragrant, delicious, very enjoyable. I enjoyed a bottle of this vintage on release, definitely worth revisiting now. This wine trades above current retail for a reason. ... |

2004 Caymus - Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
A "Back from Bordeaux" bottle, decanted and enjoyed 2 hours at home. Rich, ripe, dark and delicious. Nose is black fruit and cedar - not vanilla or cloyingly sweet, just succulent and juicy. The 15.2% alcohol is not very apparent, things are balanced at a high level, and more years will continue to integrate the great fruit and not-dominant oak spice in the bottle. It drinks well no matter when you open it. Fresh, well structured and long. A great 100% cabernet. |

2004 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet
96 points Robert Parker: "The brilliant, super-rich 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection (this cuvee is now aged only 15-16 months in barrels compared to older vintages that spent almost twice as long in wood) boasts an inky/purple hue, and sweet notes of lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, licorice, and charcoal.
