Bright ruby. Cassis, violet and lightly tarry, spicy oak. Ripe, dense and very concentrated; thick and deep. Not at all overly sweet or dominated by the wood. Has superb material and verve. Finishes very long, with thoroughly ripe tannins. The finest vintage for this wine in a long time, and one that avoids the excesses of (American) oak that have plagued so many recent vintages.

A "Back from Bordeaux" bottle, decanted and enjoyed 2 hours at home. Rich, ripe, dark and delicious. Nose is black fruit and cedar - not vanilla or cloyingly sweet, just succulent and juicy. The 15.2% alcohol is not very apparent, things are balanced at a high level, and more years will continue to integrate the great fruit and not-dominant oak spice in the bottle. It drinks well no matter when you open it. Fresh, well structured and long. A great 100% cabernet.
