Here on the granite slopes of the river bank these gnarled Syrah vines produce profoundly muscular wines with an inky black color. The Pichon Saint Joseph is a fine example of this district as it contains a wild berry and vanilla nose with gobs of black fruit and cassis on the palate with a spicy oak finish -just a complete BEAST of a BIG wine. The wine society calls this Producer " one to watch".
