2005 Clos Celeste Minervois La Livinière
This wine is a blend of Syrah and Mourvedre and is a complete powerhouse of a wine. Inky black with gobs of blackberry, prunes and cassis on the nose, the palate is full-bodied, expansive and loaded with vanilla. This is almost a meal in itself and will need only the heartiest of steaks to stand up to its intensity.

Pommard "Clos de la Platière", 20% Premier Cru and the rest villages, offers a rich mid-palate and dark, supple balanced fruit with lots of power and weight. Allen Meadows writes: "A touch of reduction can't hide the otherwise ripe red berry fruit and distinct earth notes that continue onto the rich, full and moderately rustic flavors where the tannins are well integrated on the supple and smooth finish.
