Since the mid eighties, this winery has been a consistent very high-level performer. I have always been pleased that I was lucky enough to purchase a case each of the 88, 89, and 90 on futures. The 2000 more than maintains this chateau?s reputation but I do not believe it is the equivalent of their efforts in 89, 90, and 95 and is only slightly better than the 1998. Wow. Cedar on the nose and blackberry and prune flavors on the palate. This wine has never been better. It has developed layers of complexity and a long long finish. This is one of the best 1997 Bordeax wines I have tasted and it continues to evolve.
