Joan Blaeu (1598-1673), the publisher of the map did not have recent maps of the area available. Therefore he used an older survey map of Scandinavia from 1626 by the Swedish cartographer Anders Bureus (1571-1661) and enlarged the detail with the diocese Bergen.
