This delicate panel depicting a young man in a robe playing a long horn or trumpet, is painted on two earthenware tiles. It was created by artist of the Arts and Crafts movement, Edward Burne-Jones, friend and long time collaborator of William Morris, with whom he worked on a number of stained glass, painted furnishings and tapestry designs. The beautifully detailed leaves on the shrub behind the young man are typical of his work.
