Black Oil Sunflower Seed--by far the most desired seed by birds. Attracts cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, finches of all types, and grosbeaks. The high oil content makes it popular with birds and provides the heat and energy needed to live. Black oil sunflower has more oil content than any other! Black Oil Sunflower has a softer shell than striped sunflower, allowing smaller birds to open the shells more easily.

We are strong believers that the use of black oil sunflower seed adds oil to the diet and helps give the feather a nice sheen or glow. The feed we give our birds has extra black oil sunflower seed, 14.2% protein, 42.6% carbohydrates and 32.3% fats.

We do sunflower seeds right. Many processors soak the in-shells in brine and then roast them here at Zenobia, we salt the outside of the shells during a batch roasting process, making the seeds crispier, easier to open, and a great snack!

My suet cage was always opened by my squirrel friends, so now I close it and put grocery bread twisties around it, so only my bird visitors can get their food.
