Sadly, even with the clogging and tangling, picking up hair is what this vacuum does best. Kitty litter and dirt come right out the side vents. If you intend to open the hatch and use it without the hose, make sure you run it for a minute or so before hand, otherwise all the stuff you just picked up will come right out when you roll back the cover.
