I know how to solve the 3x3 by dismantling it and putting it back together, and I'm quite sure the method is the same for this one too. I recall when getting my first 3x3 that the box suggested putting a thin layer of Vaseline® inside the edges of the cube for easier movement of the puzzle planes. I suggest you do the same with this cube too. The extra layer causes it to "hang up" when spinning the planes...
