Outrageous Pippi Longstocking of Villa Villekulla has no parents around and no rules to follow, so she lives according to her own daredevilish ways. She has been treating her friends Tommy and Annika to wild adventures, too-like buying, and eating, seventy-two pounds of candy on a shopping trip, or sailing off to an island in the middle of a lake to show them what it's like to be shipwrecked. This board book introduces large vehicles and other things that go. Most are part of a baby's world--truck, sailboat, plane, tractor, train, car, and bus. The first selection of two cranes seems to be a bit of a stretch since most cranes tend to be stationary while they are moving things. Otherwise, this is a pleasant selection with bright pictures that should appeal to kids. They are somewhat reminiscent of the work of Eric Carle.
