The surround system itself is pretty good. It's my first surround system (besides PC speakers), but the bass is more than adequate for music listening (party music, at that) let alone watching movies or TV. The speakers themselves sound great and you don't have to overpower them to hear things clearly. I usually have it set at about 20-30/50 for normal TV or movie viewing. I push it to 50 for music and there's no distortion or anything and the volume is definitely loud enough.
