The throw weighs almost nothing -- I don't like really heavy throws -- but works beautifully to counter the occasional draft. It is SO soft -- just like plush silk. Unlike some other fleece throws, there is NO shedding at all, and no pilling, either. I've washed mine a couple of times since I got it 5 weeks ago (I have two cats who have decided they REALLY like sleeping on it), and it comes out of the dryer looking like brand new.
