The MX is advertised as 3-ounces. That is a quarter of an ounce heavier than the same model in the BIIX. It is noticeable in the hand, but not uncomfortable. The MX, is still a light rod. In the parking lot, it performed well with a WF5F Shark Skin line at all ranges. This is the kind of five-weight you might use on a bonefish flat, or for fishing streamers for brown trout.
