This is an old variety once favored in the Southern United States. Introduced by the Peter Henderson & Company of New York around 1890. Plants grow 4 to 5 feet tall. The pods are greenish-white in color, long (6 to 7 inches), tapering, smooth, velvety and not prickly to the touch. They are round and do not have the heavy ribbing like some other varieties.
