WS 93pts. - WE 92pts. - According to the Wine Spectator: Creamy-textured, intense and focused, with ripe, vibrant black cherry, currant, anise and plum notes that are well-structured, with lively acidity and firm yet ripe tannins. Drink now through 2015. Tasting Notes - An array of fruits with plum, blue berries, red currants, cranberries, and baked cherries. Cinnamon spice, bay leaf, cocoa and white chocolate add depth and complexity. Bright sweet fruit at entry with plum, cherry and blueberry fruits. The palate texture is rich, full bodied and powerful. Nuances of mocha chocolate and molasses add oak complexity which lingers with hints of cedar on the finish.

Vine Cliff Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2004
Cabernets can be mellow and mild, hearty and rich. It has a deep red color, with the primary taste being black currant. Other overtones can include blackberry and mint. Traditionally aged in oak, the wine also takes on an oaky, vanilla flavor. Higher quality cabs age extremely well (although a bit slowly), developing a sprinkling of five or six tastes within it.

Since 1990, all Vine Cliff vineyards have been managed according to the principles/practices of sustainable viticulture, with a renewed emphasis on natural farming. No commercial pesticides/herbicides /artificial fertilizers have been used, when possible, on the vines for more than a decade. 10 tons of organic materials are returned to the soil as compost annually. Native grass species are planted as ground cover between rows of vines.
