Browsing Mastiff stories - - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and downloads
The other day, I stumbled upon this article that breaks down the ergonomics of game controllers, going all the way back to the Atari 2600 and even looking at the gamepads of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I remember as a youngin' the very first thing I'd like to do when I got a new console was just hold the controller and see how it felt. When the N64 was fast approaching and demo kiosks were being placed in stores, I grabbed that controller and just fiddled with it for a few minutes before even...

Monolith stories - - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and
Q Entertainment's Lumines (PSP), designed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi and thought by many to be the system's strongest game, recently hit a sales milestone with over half a million units sold worldwide. The game has shipped 300,000 units in North America, 180,000 in Europe, and 70,000 in Japan. Mizuguchi and his studio seem to be unwilling to align themselves with any one console manufacturer: Meteos (DS), a collaboration between Mizuguchi and Smash Bros. designer Masahiro Sakurai, was released to...

To bring this around in a topical way, that's one reason I'm so excited about E3 this year. The range we'll be seeing is simply incredible: mind-blowingly open-ended extravanganzas of game design such as Spore on the PC, blockbuster action/adventure-ish games on systems like Xbox 360 and PS3, something totally different in the control/interface arena with Wii as well as the concerted attempt to branch out to non-traditional audiences, major handheld gaming systems pursuing almost opposing types...

Browsing Namco stories - - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and downloads
Culdcept Saga to be told this summer [xbox360] Prior to last year's E3, Namco Bandai Games slightly surprisingly announced that Culdcept Saga, Omiya Soft's Xbox 360 installment of the cult classic Culdcept franchise, would be coming to North America. Oddly, the game made no appearance at E3, but today Namco Bandai finally sent word that the game is expected to ship in North America this summer. Like other games in the series, Culdcept Saga is a board game/card game hybrid and is frequently described...

Browsing Matrox stories - - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and downloads
As we mentioned last week, Matrox is announcing their new videocard on Tuesday . But it seems the Russian site iXBT is already spilling the beans . Though the article is in Russian (you can try using BabelFish I suppose), it has English charts and such and this card is looking very impressive (three displays anyone?). In fact it packs so many features that you have to wonder how much the thing will cost. There are no game benchmarks though so we have to wait and see if the card is a winner when...

Sponsored by Sierra Entertainment, the 2007 CPL World Tour will focus on the competitive play of two Sierra-published titles: the Xbox 360 version of Monolith Productions' FPS F.E.A.R. and Massive Entertainment's alternate history PC RTS World in Conflict. F.E.A.R. originally hit the PC in late 2005, followed by the October 2006 Xbox 360 iteration and a PlayStation 3 edition due this week, both handled by Day 1 Studios. Meanwhile, the PC-based World in Conflict is slated for a Q3 2007 release.
